ANDREW WIENER - PHOTOGRAPHS
Meaning in abstract art resides in the conversation between the work and a viewer’s memories — so let an image sink in, think about how it makes you feel, and then ask yourself: is the feeling it engenders meaningful to you, and if so, why? What is it about the colors and spacial relationships that make you feel this way? What is it making you think of? Why is this image connecting with an experience stored in your memory? Answers to these questions will come to you because, in my view, an abstract photograph has the power to evoke the moment of suddenly remembering something and what it meant to you, which is nothing less than a moment of learning.
